Dr. Patience Whitworth serves as Associate Vice Provost for Student Success and Strategic Initiatives for the Office of the Provost at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She supports day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives and provides oversight to the Student Academic Success Center. First joining Carnegie Mellon as the director of the Office of the Vice Provost for Education, she served on the accreditation leadership team, oversaw the new academic program process, and coordinated academic leadership efforts to support diversity, equity, and inclusion, and student success.

Previously, Patience was the assistant dean of students in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Vermont (UVM). Prior to UVM, she served as assistant director of Student Life Research and Planning at The Ohio State University where she was responsible for divisional strategic planning and assessment. Her current research focuses on the application of restorative practices in higher education.
