Instructor

Ken Trautwein is an IIRP instructor and has nearly 25 years’ experience teaching Middle School and High School science. In regard to restorative practices, Ken embraces the explicit practices and has been using them to build classroom community in his educational spaces. His background as a classroom teacher helps him connect theory into direct classroom practice. Ken believes that restorative practices is not a discipline model for schools. It is a way of being, especially a way of being in and building community. He sees the power of restorative practices in the connections that people make with each other, through the process that offers dignity to all.

Ken earned his Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from The Pennsylvania State University, his Master of Science in Education from Gwynedd Mercy University. He earned his Graduate Certificate in Restorative Practices in 2020 and is currently earning his Master of Science in Restorative Practices from the IIRP.
