Restoring Community

In Detroit, neighbors are coming together to prevent and heal conflict and violence that has persisted for generations. They’re becoming active stewards of their community and building better relationships. People in this city want their children to be safe in the community and successful in school. Learning the skills of restorative practices, they're making this dream a reality.

Energize their vital work. Help them take an active role in Strengthening the Spirit of Community, the first IIRP World Conference in Detroit.

Enable these dedicated individuals to:

  • Halt the school-to-prison pipeline by engaging children, not excluding them.
  • Resolve conflicts with open dialogue.
  • Make policing and corrections restorative, not punitive.
  • End gang violence by bringing all the parties together.

At Strengthening the Spirit of Community, they will:

  • Enhance their efforts by learning from an international network of restorative practitioners and researchers.
  • Share their skills and accomplishments with colleagues from around the world.
  • Energize their programs by learning to work in more participatory and empowering ways.
