SPECIAL EVENT
Unlike our trainings, which provide participants with information and skills they can use the next day, the One-Day Conference is designed for decision-makers to learn about restorative practices and determine whether they want to bring it to their school or district.

Programs come and go at schools today—bullying prevention, character education, mentoring, mediation. Meant to deal with important student behavior and relationship issues, sometimes they work, for a while, or for a segment of the school population. However, they rarely impact the culture of the entire school. What’s missing is a unified framework that ties those efforts together. Restorative practices provides the comprehensive framework for a whole-school approach, involving the entire school community: staff, students and families.

What You Will Get

  • the opportunity to hear from and talk to administrators who’ve implemented restorative practices in their schools
  • a chance to compare notes with colleagues
  • extensive research data on restorative practices and its impact on schools
  • reports on how restorative practices are helping to decrease suspensions, expulsions and detentions in schools
  • stories about the ability of restorative practices to empower staff and students to take active responsibility for behavior and school climate

“The One-Day Conference was a wonderful introduction to restorative practices and the implications for use in schools. The trainers were enthusiastic and really took the time to answer my questions. I found out that restorative practices provides the link our children need in order to be successful in life. I highly recommend this conference. It really opened my eyes and gave me hope!”
