Restorative Practices Training of Trainers

When am I eligible to complete the Training of Trainers event?

The Training of Trainers (TOT) event is for experienced restorative practitioners. It is of the utmost importance that TOT participants have real-time experience implementing the concepts of restorative practices in order to have a meaningful experience in this training and as they embark in their role as trainer. To be eligible to attend the Fundamentals of Restorative Practices training of trainers event, you must first attend Restorative Practices for Educators within the last 5 years and be well versed in the use of affective language, the building of community and facilitating proactive and responsive circles.

To be eligible to attend the Restorative Conferencing training of trainers event, you must first attend Restorative Justice Conferencing within the last 5 years, and it is required that you have participated in or facilitated at least one formal restorative conference prior to registering for the event.

During the Training of Trainers, participants will be required to share their previous experiences with the group. There is no specific time frame developed by the IIRP to participate, because readiness is dependent on personal experience, and timing will vary for everyone.

Steps to Complete the Training

1. Attend the professional development event for which you are interested in learning how to deliver our curriculum. Participants must have attended the respective professional development event within the last 5 years. To be eligible to attend the Fundamentals of Restorative Practices training of trainers event, you must first attend Restorative Practices for Educators. To be eligible to attend the Restorative Conferencing training of trainers event, you must first attend Restorative Justice Conferencing.
   
   
2. Practice what you've learned.

4. Register for a Training of Trainers event. Once you complete the registration form, your registration will be pending. Registration review will take up to 5 business days for a credit card payment and up to 10 business days for a purchase order. You will receive a confirmation email once your registration is approved. These are scheduled throughout the year. The Training of Trainers can also be held on-site at your organization with a minimum of four (4) and a maximum of ten (10) participants.
   
   
5. After your registration is confirmed, book any required travel and accommodations for in-person events. Please wait to book any travel or accommodations for in-person trainings until the registration is confirmed.
   
   
6. Attend the training and network with other practitioners.
   
   
7. Reflect on your learning and begin to train others at your organization.

Costs

• Each Training of Trainers event costs $1,900 to attend. (Outside the U.S., prices may vary.)
• We recommend the following books for the trainings:
  • The Restorative Practices Handbook - $14.95
  • Restorative Circles in Schools - $14.95
  • Restorative Justice Conferencing - $30

Certificate of Participation

A general Certificate of Participation indicating 18 hours of instruction time will be provided by email at the completion of this online professional development event. Participants are welcome to submit this Certificate of Participation to their accrediting body for Continuing Education Credit consideration.
